This is the story of my senior design project. A crack team of aerospace engineers and I have been assigned the task of designing and building a radio controlled plane which meets the following criteria. Must fly at a speed of 100mph or greater in level flight. Must withstand a load of 7g's Must not use an engine with displacement larger than 1 cu in. Calculations have to be backed up by real data at some point. That real data has to be gathered by someone, somehow. That is why our next step was to perform thrust testing. We first needed to test our engine, tune it and make sure everything was working. As well, we wanted the static thrust value to see how accurate the advertised specifications were.
